CLINGO® HTA – Asset acquisition management
CLINGO®, the UMS solution for the Hospital Asset Management, is enriched by a new module making it possible to optimize the biomedical devices acquisition management.

The new CLINGO® HTA (Health Technology Assessment) module manages the acquisition process in detail, through the various steps going from request definition to the possible acquisition.

The module is based on a “states logic” contemplating:

• A request coming from the operative units, with automatic creation of a request protocol;
• Specification of all information relevant for evaluation;
• Request approval by department managers;
• Request analysis and priority attribution by hospital management;
• Devices evaluation performed by the Biomedical Engineering departments;
• Acquisition request approval or rejection.

The system automatically generates the technical evaluation documents. All documentation can be easily attached, retrieved and displayed.

UMS CLINGO® system’s great configurability allowed once more to create a tool enabling to automatize a workflow of high complexity and variability. In fact CLINGO® HTA can be customized to match the specific needs and the existing procedures of the healthcare structure.

Hemodynamics parameters management in reanimation
UMS srl, in collaboration with SEDA S.p.A, developed a tool for hemodynamics management based on the DIGISTAT® and Pulsion PICCO2® systems.

The new DIGISTAT® “Hemodynamics” connects to the PICCO® cardiac monitor to provide the user a device that:
• Automatically acquires and centralizes the parameters coming from the PICCO2® monitor connected to the different beds,
• Allows to insert anamnestic data, coded notes and events,
• Displays the parameters in charts and tables, enables data validation and trends representation,
• Creates a clear, customized printed documentation of the acquired data.

This project shows once again the flexibility of the DIGISTAT® systems, their integration possibilities with electro-medical devices and their clinical workflow management capabilities.

DIGISTAT® “Hemodynamics” will be implemented in the Reanimation department of the Niguarda Hospital in Milan.

DIGISTAT® Panels
The Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHUV) of Lausanne (Switzerland), that adopted the DIGISTAT® “Operating Room” solution several years ago for its 49 operating rooms, integrated the system with the new Web solution DIGISTAT® “Panels”.

DIGISTAT® “Panels” creates on a Web interface a customizable and concise view of the information available on the DIGISTAT® environment. The information is displayed on thematic “Panels” that summarize, gather and highlight the selected contents using a rich library of visual tools.

DIGISTAT® “Panels” does not require any installation on the computer client and supports most of operating systems and browsers commonly used.

DIGISTAT® “Panels”, highly configurable, can be adapted to the goals and necessities of the single customer. The possible uses range from the “patient summary”, to the “statistical dashboard”, to the portal for remote access.

DIGISTAT® “Panels” is a conceptual evolution of the DIGISTAT® systems, aiming at an increased availability and usability of the information.

DIGISTAT® Smart Central
The Rangueil University Hospital in Toulouse (Francia) adopted the new DIGISTAT® “Smart Central” system for the Intensive Care department.

DIGISTAT® “Smart Central” acquires real-time data from devices connected to the patient (for instance infusion pumps, monitors, heart-lungs machines etc...) and displays them on an immediately readable user interface. The system centralizes clear information on the devices status and makes it understandable at a glance, highlighting the possible alarms and warnings.

DIGISTAT® “Smart Central” supports the nursing and medical staff: it is a fundamental tool in departments structured in patient-boxes and, more generally, wherever it is necessary to display the devices status on a single central workstation.

DIGISTAT® “Smart Central”
• Makes it possible to centralize the information coming from the different connected devices and provides a panoramic view of various beds on a single screen;
• can be of help in preventing some alarms, reducing this way the acoustic stress for patients and staff in the department;
• supports workflow planning by providing indications on some future events (i.e. “near end of infusion” warnings for infusion devices).

This installation was completed in partnership with Spacelabs in France. UMS confirms this way its competitiveness on the international market and strengthen the growing trends of diffusion of its systems outside Italy.

DIGISTAT® 3.0: technological evolution
UMS evolves its software suite for Critical Areas management (surgical workflow and intensive care units) to the DIGISTAT® 3.0 version, enriching it with important new features aiming at an always increased completeness, efficiency and ease of use.

Specifically, two new modules were added to the DIGISTAT® 3.0 software suite:
• DIGISTAT® “Smart Central” - a tool dedicated to the real time centralized representation of the bedside devices status,
• DIGISTAT® “Panels” – a tool creating on a Web interface a concise customizable view of the information available on the DIGISTAT® environment.

Print functionalities are also improved: the new “Report Master” makes it easier to create a personalized documentation for the customer and the department.

An increased configuration freedom also characterizes the “Scoring Calculator” module, making it now possible to define customized evaluation scales and calculation formulas for derived indexes (for instance: nursing workload in minutes/day per patient).

The continuous feedback coming from the healthcare structures already using DIGISTAT® enables UMS to aim at specific and substantial innovations of its systems, going far beyond a mere “restyling” of what exists.
