OranJ - (Operating Room and ANesthesia Journal)

Operating Room Monitoring
OranJ is the DIGISTAT® solution for the Surgery Ward.
Surgery is one of the main “products” of a medical facility, both for its services' importance and for the organizational and economic load it requires.

The use of computer systems to collect information and monitor workflow is essential to optimise the use of resources, improve productivity and efficiency and monitor service quality.

Operating Staff Management
The principal goals of a Computerized Management System for Surgery Wards are:
  • providing the Executive Board with decisional support designed to develop strategies geared towards surgery cost containment;
  • implementing an effective Continuous Quality Improvement  system;
  • supplying service managers with tools designed to optimally plan available resources (employees, operating rooms, equipments, materials and drugs);
  • automating logbook entries, which are legally required (as in logbooks for operations, opiates, implants and prostheses).

List of Operations
OranJ has been developed to enable Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Nurses, Medical Officers and Administrators to efficiently and effectively plan, control and monitor Surgery Ward activities.

It automates the surgery controlling and monitoring procedures and provides medical and administrative managers with a wide range of statistical, clinical, resource management and administrative data.

Real time
events documentation

OranJ can effectively:
  • manage session planning,
  • manage human resources,
  • fill out surgery logbook entries,
  • fill out prosthesis logbook entries,
  • fill out opiate logbook entries,
  • draft the Anesthesia Journal
Documentation is compiled in real-time, while the activities are in progress.

Three standard configurations
OranJ has three standard configurations; each one is dedicated to cover certain specific aspects of the Surgery Ward workflow:
  • “Check-in” configuration was created to promote optimal management of patient flow both in and out of the operating ward;
  • “Central Station” configuration offers a birds-eye view of the ward with real-time monitoring of the state of every room and a real-time planning of ward activities;
  •  “Bedside” configuration has been created to stay inside the operating room, to monitor and record the events occurring in that specific room (room events, staff changes, timing, notes, drugs etc…).
Four different modules
The OranJ system generally comprises four modules, that can be either present or not, depending on the specific configuration. These are:
